Award-winning Steel Pan Band

This Steel Orchestra represents the pinnacle of Steelpan music in the UK today. Led by 'Steelpan Ambassador' Terry, the band performs all over the UK and abroad for high ranking dignitaries and public alike. Significant London venues have included a garden party at Buckingham Palace and eight consecutive performances (1994-2001) at the Commonwealth Day Service in Westminster Abbey in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen and other members of the Royal Family. Performances abroad have included Dubai, India, Morocco, North Korea, Sri Lanka and Trinidad & Tobago. The group also maintains close links with a historic Steel Orchestra in Arima, Trinidad.

Since the band's formation in 1987, the professionalism and playing excellence of its members have attracted numerous fans including such notable devotees as the Duke of Edinburgh. The group aspires to build bridges for audiences and players alike, between music of different styles, ages and culture. As well as incorporating main stream music such as classical, modern, calypso, pop and jazz, they commission new works exclusively for the pans and are continuously developing the steel pan repertoire.

This is the first steel orchestra to receive two Performing Rights Society Enterprise Awards, BT Innovation Awards and Her Majesty the Queens Fortieth Anniversary Challenge Award.

The full steel band consists of tenor [soprano], double tenor and double second pans, accompanied by guitars and a rhythm section which can include drum kit, congas, maracas, cowbells, tambourine and timpani. They can also perform in smaller line-ups.
