5-piece Swing Band

The Chameleon Swingtet was formed in 1987 to explore the famous and much loved tunes, from the jazz era of the 1920s to the small group swing tunes of the 1930s and 40s. The regular line-up of clarinet/sax, guitar, piano, bass and drums is a well established one, and they can also appear as a four or six piece group including an optional singer if required.

There is a huge interest in the tunes from 'The Great American Songbook' and the Swingtet draws most of its repertoire from this source. The playlist includes happy Dixieland tunes and dance hall favourites from the 1920s to the 1950s, encompassing exciting 'Latin' rhythms and many of the 20th century's great classic songs.

Equally at home providing dance music in the country's leading hotels and cruise liners as they are appearing in their own right or backing top National and International jazz stars at festivals and in pubs and clubs, the Swingtet pride themselves as being particularly 'user-friendly'. They also perform at a wide variety of private functions such as weddings, dinner dances and anniversaries.

The members of the Chameleon Swingtet also perform as the Chameleon Dixieland Jazzband, a classic six piece traditional jazz band including trumpet and trombone, and The Chameleon Dixie Five, the ideal 'walkabout' jazz band including banjo and brass bass. All of the bands wear smart uniforms and carry their own P.A.T. tested PA systems if required. They also carry full public liability insurance.
