Big Band with a swinging style

This Big Band is a versatile swing ensemble which performs concerts and regularly plays for dances, weddings and functions. The band has a vast repertoire including jazz, swing and jive to recreate the sounds and atmosphere of the big band era. It plays numbers made famous by Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.

Under the leadership of trombonist Paul, the band, previously known as the Ron Young Orchestra, has built up a keen following since it started life as a rehearsal band in 1979. The band can perform as a twelve piece, or increase up to the full 19 piece line-up with male and female vocalists.

Paul began his musical career as a military musician. Since leaving the army his professional career has seen him perform for P&O, Johnny Howard, Ray McVay and the Piccadilly Dance Orchestra, as well as in West End shows Grease and Ragtime. In addition he has also worked on many touring shows including Anything Goes, The Pirates of Penzance, the Rat Pack and the Blues Brothers Party.
