Salsa, Cumbia and Merengue.

This band, an exuberant 9-piece Latin-dance ensemble, is probably Britain's leading exponent of Cumbia, the rootsy music most closely associated with Colombia. Often overlooked in favour of its more commercial cousin Salsa, Cumbia is a typically heady Latin mixture born of Spanish settlers, African slaves and indigenous South-Americans. The music features a solidly grounded yet very hot rhythm with airy syncopations in the melody. No dance lessons needed!

The band features sensational Colombian vocalist Antonio who has played with some of Bogotá's leading bands, and accordionist Oren who has played in Boyaca and Rio Negro. The musicians fuse Latin American and African specialists with jazz, rock and soul musicians to give the music a real kick. The dynamic and versatile line up includes two Latin percussionists and three horn players together with accordion, bass and piano.

Most of the band members also sing the 'Coro' backing vocals essential to Latin-American music, producing a veritable vocal wall-of-sound. This band presents 'Music Tropical' at its very steamiest and most contagious. You just won't be able to sit still when they are playing. Whether they are locked into the backbeat of Cumbia, galloping through the loping rhythm of a porro, or throwing in some mambo, merengue or Colombia's own style of salsa, you just have to get up and move to the joyful rhythm.

This music is as sensuous, swaying and spirited as a sultry Colombian night. Put on your dancing shoes and catch this infectious ensemble now! do a variety of Colombian tropical music including Cha cha, Mambo, meringue, salsa and cumbia which anyone can dance to without knowing the dance moves. Baila mi Cumbia!
