Oliver plays for weddings and ceremonial functions, both as a soloist and as part of a fanfare group.
He was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for three years after which he entered the Royal Academy of Music. Whilst at the Academy he was awarded the 'Scott Philbrick Prize for Jazz Trumpet' and a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music, Boston, USA. He also continued his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Orchestral engagements have included concerts, tours and recordings with the London Festival Orchestra, La Camerata of Athens, BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Guildford Philharmonic, Brighton Philharmonic, Irish Chamber Orchestra, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, New London Sinfonia, English Symphony Orchestra and the Orquestra do Porto, Portugal.
Work with contemporary music groups includes the Steve Martland Band and Mark Wigglesworth's Premiere Ensemble. Oliver has worked extensively in musical theatre. This has included work on the Royal Shakespeare Company's Hamlet and the Royal National Theatre production of Wind in the Willows. His West End credits include High Society, Mary Poppins, Chicago, Hard Times, Oliver, Beauty and the Beast, Annie, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hot Shoe Shuffle and Grand Hotel. He has performed, toured and recorded with several professional Big Bands.
His many commercial recordings feature CDs with Ute Lemper and David Soul, whilst TV appearances have included BBC TV, HTV, Spanish and Greek TV, Sky TV and the Channel Four production of Dennis Potter's 'Lipstick on Your Collar'.
